Willamette Valley Sustainable Foods Alliance Elects Officers

On January 17th, 2008, the WVSFA held their inaugural elections. Felicia Colden was elected as the first president of the organization. WVSFA includes a wide array of members ranging from Springfield Creamery and King Estate Winery to Laughing Stock Farm and Cottage Grove Farmhouse Bakery. Colden says that the alliance “works towards fostering a network to assist in regional sourcing of ingredients, raw materials and distribution in an effort to develop a regional brand around natural foods produced in Lane County similar to Napa Valley wines.”

Colden, who serves as the wholesale accounts manager and liaison to local business accounts at Mountain Rose Herbs said, “[w]ith the Alliance growing as it is, we recognized the necessity to have key people responsible for facilitating communications and to keep us moving forward with our goals and missions.  We have a lot of talented individuals representing many of Lane County’s finest businesses working together to network, build relationships and teach each other about sustainable business practices.” Other members of the newly elected officers include Justus Grose of Café Mam - Vice President, Kathee Lavine of Holy Cow - Treasurer and Molly Morris of McKenzie Mist Water - Secretary. Ms. Colden is active in several aspects of the natural products industry in Oregon serving on the steering committee of Provender Alliance and is the representative for Mountain Rose Herbs at the Oregon Organic Coalition.
